Celebrate 2025 ♦ Welcome 2026

As 2025 draws to a close, we celebrate a year shaped by voices and action—including yours—in advancing the rights and human development of older persons.
In collaboration with partners, and standing with older persons, Age Knowble contributed to pivotal moments: the historic April decision at the Human Rights Council to begin drafting a UN Convention on the rights of older persons; South–South dialogue at the Second World Summit on Social Development affirming older persons as active contributors; and local initiatives advancing dignity and addressing elder abuse.
Grounded in participation, lived experience, and collective commitment, our ways of working together will drive further progress in 2026—so older persons everywhere can age with rights, dignity, and self-determination, actively shaping everyday life and society.
With sincere thanks for walking alongside us in 2025, and best wishes for the year ahead, we look forward to continuing this shared journey together in 2026.
The following is a peak into where we have been and where we are going next:

Second World Summit on Social Development
What does social development look like when older persons are recognised as contributors, not dependents? In this November 2025 Solutions Session we unpacked South–South insights, cross-regional similarities, intergenerational practices, and why the older persons are central to social development agendas. Watch the Showreel Video and read the Summary to learn more.
Who Decides?
On the 10 February 2026 (7:00 am CET) older persons with dementia advocates, and experts come together to discuss the human rights principles that matter in the drafting of the UN Convention on the rights of older persons.
